Advanced Certificate Junior II — the most senior Iyengar certification in Canada

Founder and director of Setu. Mahyar studied directly with B.K.S. Iyengar and his family from 1980 for 30 years, until his passing, and completed the Modern Techniques in Medical Yoga course at Gupta Yoga Hospital in Lonavla, India. She has led the studio since 1997.

Davina Parkinson

Iyengar Association Level 2 Certificate (2013)

Teaching professionally since 2008, Davina graduated from a 500-hour program in 2002 and immersed herself in the Iyengar tradition — eight years with François Raoult in Rochester, New York, and more than fifteen years and counting with Mahyar Raz in Toronto.

Abha Chawla-Humeniuk

Certified Iyengar yoga teacher

Abha grew up in India with a lifelong foundation in yoga postures and philosophy, and deepened her understanding of precision and alignment under Mahyar’s guidance and mentorship. She has taught yoga to children with autism and ADD, special-needs classes in the school system, and seniors, and has an extensive background in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and the Bhagavad Gita.

Olivera Bay

Trained through Setu’s teacher training program

Olivera has studied Iyengar yoga with Mahyar since 2006 and joined Setu’s teacher training in 2013. Her classes keep students safe, engaged, energized and calm through the one-on-one attention she gives to both flexible and inflexible bodies.
